BELLINGHAM, WA (January 2019) – On Wednesday, February 20th from 10:00am to 3:00pm, the Bellingham Senior Activity Center will host What’s Next: Housing Options as We Age, an open-house event that is free to the public.

Throughout the day we will be hosting various presentations on housing options in the community as well as options that help us age in place. In addition to presentations, we will be filling our lobby with vendor tables of various organizations and services in the community to provide information on housing options and resources available to folks to help them age in place or transition to a new home. Our goal is for people to receive as much information they can in order to become informed on the various housing options and resources available to them and their loved ones.

What’s Next: Housing Options as We Age is an opportunity to discuss and answer questions about housing for older adults in our community. Whatcom County offers a wide-range of housing options from shared-housing and in-home attendants, to adult family homes, rehabilitation, and independent and assisted living facilities.

This event aims to assist individuals in making informed decisions that work for them, and to help families talk with their loved ones about viable housing options.  Thus the event is geared toward older adults looking at their housing options, as well as individuals seeking options for their parents.

The Bellingham Senior Activity Center (BSAC) is a program of the Whatcom Council on Aging. The BSAC offers a wide range of classes and services for persons 50 years of age and over to encourage emotional, mental, and physical wellness for a healthy, active and independent lifestyle.   Classes and activities include fitness classes, dances, an open gym, social interaction and a nutritious meal is served from 11:30am – 1:00pm Monday through Friday.
