WCOA depends upon your generous support to be able to offer vital programs for seniors in our community. We were incorporated in 1964 as a 501c3 nonprofit and have been dedicated to serving seniors for 46 years, and counting!

The Bellingham Senior Activity Center draws on support from both its members and the community to offer programs that enrich the lives of seniors in Bellingham and promote healthy aging.

Meals on Wheels and More, which includes Meals on Wheels delivered to homebound seniors and Senior Community Meals at 12 sites throughout Whatcom and San Juan County, depends on the generous donations from the community and from our funding partners to meet the growing demand for our services.

Federal and local government grants cover approximately 40% of the cost of the Meals on Wheels and More Program. Donations from participants cover another 25%. We depend on community donations, fundraising and private foundation grants to fund the remaining ~35% of Program expenses.

This support from you is critical – it ensures that WCOA can continue to serve seniors that rely on us for this most basic of social services – adequate nutrition and socialization.

Cash donations to support Whatcom Council on Aging (WCOA) programs are tax deductible on your federal tax report. WCOA has 501(c)(3) tax exempt status with the IRS and all donations are deductible to the full extent allowed by law.

How your donations help

Donations to the Nutrition Program support our meal programs at 12 sites as well as the Meals on Wheels program. Donations to the Nutrition program benefit from a matching contribution of 50 cents on the dollar by the Chuckanut Health Foundation.

Donations to the General Fund support all of the Whatcom Council on Aging’s programs.

Donations to the Senior Activity Center help support the many programs offered at the Bellingham Senior Activity Center.

Donations are also accepted to benefit our newest program, Bellingham at Home. At this time, your donations put you in on the ground floor of a new and exciting program. Join us as a founding member.
