Picnic with a Purpose: A week of drive-through cookouts and resource bag distributions for Whatcom County Seniors

Whatcom County, Washington, July 15, 2021 – Older adults throughout Whatcom County are invited to join the Whatcom Council on Aging (WCOA) and local senior centers for Picnic with a Purpose. The event, which replaces their annual Senior Day in the Park picnic, will include a week of drive-through cookouts at five senior centers throughout the County during the week of August 23rd-27th. Participants will receive a delicious take-away meal as well as a bag filled with information and swag to help them reconnect with their local senior center as well as with community partners in the areas of housing, transportation, recreation, health and wellness, entertainment and more! In 2020 more than 800 seniors throughout Whatcom County participated in Picnic with a Purpose, and this year WCOA expects an even larger turnout. Event sponsors include VibrantUSA, Signature Healthcare at Home, Humana, Regence, Eden Home Health, and Airline Catering. There is a suggested donation of $5.00 or whatever is affordable.
