Whatcom Council on Aging’s Meals on Wheels and More program is a proud partner of Haggen’s 2022 Heroes Against Hunger Campaign! Between August 31 and October 25, 2022, donations made at the cash register of every Haggen store will be granted to local agencies to help end hunger in their communities. Meals on Wheels and More will receive a portion of the register donations made at the Barkley, Fairhaven, Meridian, and Sehome Haggen stores. Last year Meals on Wheels and More received a $35,000 donation from the Haggen Foundation from funds generated through the Heroes Against Hunger Campaign, which helped fund 7,000 meals!
The demand for home-delivered “Meals on Wheels” by homebound seniors in Whatcom County skyrocketed with the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 and remains well above pre-pandemic levels! Meals on Wheels and More is currently delivering 35% more meals to Whatcom County seniors each month than prior to the pandemic!
