Funded by the USDA and WA State, the Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP) provides lower income seniors with an electronic benefits card that can be used to purchase $80 in fresh fruits, vegetables, honey, and fresh-cut herbs at approved farmers markets and farm stores throughout Washington State. The electronic benefits card will replace the old paper coupons/vouchers.

To be eligible to receive a SFMNP Electronic Benefits Card, you must meet All of the following:

  • Be 60 years old or older (55+ if Native American or Alaska Native)
  • Be a resident of Washington State
  • Have an income below:
    • $26,973 Annual / $2,248 Monthly for 1 person, or
    • $36,482 Annual / $3,040 Monthly for 2 people
    • $792 for each additional person in household

2023 SFMNP Affidavits/Applications are available to download below. They are also available at your local Whatcom or San Juan County Senior Center.

 

Please Note: Benefits cards will be mailed to eligible seniors starting in late May

They are redeemable between June 1 and October 31.

 

Participating farmers markets include Bellingham, Ferndale, Lynden, Friday Harbor, Orcas, San Juan Island, and Anacortes. The complete list of approved markets and farm stores has not been released yet.
